37: Why you’re hungry

You’re hungry because your stomach feels empty. You’re hungry because you didn’t eat well. And you’re hungry because your actions made you forget that hunger is even an option. That’s when you reached your state of flow in which you overcome problems that challenge you and are aligned with your skill level, meaning you are able to solve the problems though it’s not easy.

The real reason why you’re hungry is because you need to be hungry. A full stomach doesn’t like to study (“Ein voller Bauch studiert nicht gern.”) is what a German saying goes like. This is true for your personal and business success as well.

Guess what?

I’m hearing voices out of my stomach right now. I should be eating and get some food. I will. Eventually. But for now I’m finishing this piece because it’s part of my success story. Success that has already come. In my head. Reality is usually slower than what I envision. I’m sure you can relate. Nothing comes fast. You always need to be patient, and work hard. Success and wealth will follow.

So, I’m hungry right now. Literally and figuratively. As I said, I will eat to have healthy nutrition. I won’t eat to become comfortable. That’s the “hungry” mode I’m referring to in this text. When you’re hungry you need to get food. When your business is starving you need to feed it. When your project is getting weak, you need to give it energy. Healthy food, healthy input, clever investment with a good a return. That gives it back the power. So much that it will continue running well. Not too much so it doesn’t become saturated, fat or immobile.

The take-away from today: Establish the balance in which you eat healthy and stay hungry for more. Hunger is a lack of something, it’s something you have less of. This less will drive you more, drive you to go for more. In short: Less is more. In this specific context. Don’t starve and die. Be hungry having less to live and achieve more.

This was episode 37 of the #weekdaykickoff 🌊. Every Monday-Friday morning. Colombian time. Until episode 5 I also audio-recorded on Anchor, you can find me there as “Alexander Kluge”.
